The Greeters

Claudette Gamache

I am now retired. I worked for several years in administration for the provincial and federal government, and finished my career in an international company from Quebec and Italy.

I studied tourism management. After my studies, I left for a 45-day hitchhiking trip around Europe. I love travelling around the world. What moved me the most in one of my trips was the Uluru monolith in the Australian outback, sacred to the aboriginal communities. I also loved Machu Picchu in Peru, the archaeological site of the Incas with its spiritual vibrations. For Italy, it’s the Amalfi Coast, the Vesuvius, Pompeii, Capri, the Vatican City, etc.

I also love nature and climbing mountains. I would like to hike the 20 highest mountains in Quebec; I have done 13 so far. My favourite is Mont Jacques-Cartier in the Chic-Chocs, in one of Gaspésie’s national parks. I had the chance of seeing three woodland caribou, as there are about thirty left in this park.

I also like to ride my bike on the bike paths of Quebec. I was in the Sherbrooke Cycling Patrol for 5 years. I participated in the 2013 Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, where I had the pleasure of carrying the torch of the games. It was an amazing experience.

I am a member of the Quebec National Parks and the Eastern Townships Trails.
